Queen's Lane

Acrylic on Papyrus

65 x 90 x 4 cm

Nefertiti goes for a ride in her chariot in this erotically charged depiction of the Egyptian Queen. Renowned as an icon of feminine beauty and power, the Queen here is pulled along by male slaves in an eclectic mix of ancient and modern. The artist’s acrylic paints vividly update Pharaonic Egypt with a punk aesthetic, but you can still see the papyrus fibres behind the paint. The MuM-TuT character cheerfully looks on, perched on an ancient temple and his graffiti for the Queen still wet.
